Behavioral Advice for Parents Ballarat VIC

It's not a car and it's not easy to fix behavior in Ballarat! The main problem with behaviour is that there is a lack of co-ordination between home and school and different standards and behavior plans (if any) are being followed or not being followed. My first piece of advice is to have a meeting at school with the teachers and ensure that certain behaviors are going to result in consequences.

How To Fix Behavior - Advice For Parents

Author: Robert William Locke

It's not a car and it's not easy to fix behavior ! The main problem with behaviour is that there is a lack of co-ordination between home and school and different standards and behavior plans (if any) are being followed or not being followed. My first piece of advice is to have a meeting at school with the teachers and ensure that certain behaviors are going to result in consequences. This will be hopefully consistent with your own behaviour plan at home. If your child has ADHD or ODD, make sure that an IEP (Individual Educational program) is in place if that is provided by the education authorities in your state (Human Services Department).

How do you fix behavior when the child is becoming increasingly defiant and aggressive at both home and school ? Age may be a factor as hormonal changes at puberty can have a negative impact on the child's behavior and cause an increase in aggressive behavior. This is a classic case where the parents can intervene and make sure he has an outlet for his anger in energetic sports or outdoor green activities. In this way he can attack objects ( a punchball is good too) rather than people!

One mistaken way to fix behavior is when parents identify the child with the bad behaviour and they become one and the same thing. The child is identified as being 'bad' but the behaviour is glossed over or ignored. A much more effective way is to talk it through with the child. You can separate the feelings of anger, defiance and aggression and examine with him calmly what he has actually done. It is also pretty useless to say something like 'those feelings are wrong'. A better way is to suggest ways of doing it differently the next time that little incident happens.

Learning these ways to fix behaviour is not as difficult as it may sound. It is not necessary either to have long expensive counselling sessions. A much cheaper and more effective way is to follow the guidelines by one of the most famous behaviour therapists in the USA who can help you fix behavior with an ADHD child, defiant kids, lying and bullying children and all the other problems associated with child behaviour at home and at school. By following a course in behavior modification you will be helping your child to grow up as a responsible adult.
