Pre Menstrual Syndrome 57 - Pre Menstrual Syndrome (PMS) and Gonadotrophin-Releasing Hormone (GrNH)
Author: Kyle J. NortonPremenstrual syndrome effects over 70% to 90% of women before menopause in the US and less for women in Southeast Asia because of their difference in living style and social structure. It is defined as faulty function of the ovaries related to the women's menstrual cycle, it effects a women's physical and emotional state, and sometimes interferes with daily activities as a result of hormone fluctuation. The syndrome occurs one to two weeks before menstruation and then declines when the period starts. In this article, we will discuss how How Gonadotrophin-Releasing Hormone (GrNH) helps to treat PMS and it's side effects.
Conventional treatment has been proven to have some success in treating symptoms of PMS with some side effects.
I. How Gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (GrNH) effects women with PMS
Gonadotrophin-Releasing hormone (GrNH) is one of the conventional medication which stops the menstrual cycle by putting the women into menopause state by stopping the pituitary gland from releasing both FSH and LH. thereby preventing ovulation.
II. Side effects
1. Hot flush or night sweats
Women with PMS taking the GrNH may experience the feeling of intense heat with sweating and rapid heartbeat last from two to thirty minutes for each occurrence. It is caused by abnormal function of pituitary gland as resulting of side effect of the medication. Reducing intake of caffeine, hot drinks, chocolate, spicy or hot foods and alcohol will ease some of the problems.
2. Osteoporosis
Since the medication depletes the vital vitamins and minerals which are necessary for the healthy bone, it reduces the women bone density and increases the risk of bone fractures. Taking vitamin D, calcium with right levels of magnesium may help.
3. Bleeding
Bleeding is common for women with PMS taking the GrNH, it is caused by withdraw blood as resulting of side effect of GrNH intake.
4. Low in sex drive
The GrNH may inference with normal levels caused by low level of estrogen and vagina dryness.
5. Depression
By plunging the women in menopause state, it increases the risk of hormone imbalance as the ovaries now no longer produce estrogen in the menstrual cycle resulting in nervous tension leading to depression.
6. Breast tenderness
Since prolactin is produced by the pituitary gland. depressing the gland in production of FSH and LH causes abnormal function resulting in breast tenderness and pain.
